From the world of online bingo here is a story that’s guaranteed to bring a smile to people’s faces. Gala Bingo showed they have their heart in the right place with this wonderful gesture.
Television celebrity Jeff Brazier and a camera crew from Gala Bingo paid a surprise visit on the 25th of November to young Anthony Cook at his home in Oakley. Anthony, nominated by his mum Dawn was one of three lucky winners chosen countrywide throughout the UK and was presented with a huge hamper of Christmas goodies worth £1000.
Anthony Cook was badly injured in a car crash on May 8th 2011 and risked spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair. He then spent the next two years in intense therapy and is finally now back at work full time.
Anthony tragically lost his father Albert to bowel cancer just a month after his accident, and as he says himself, “It was quite a difficult time when my dad died. Because of my accident I was told I wouldn’t be able to go back to work, or even walk again. The last two years I have been really fighting physio doing a lot more than I could do and I have proved everyone wrong.”
The wonderful hamper of prizes given to Anthony by Gala Bingo include an X-Box, weekend holidays, gift vouchers, and lots more. He’s still in a daze though. As he said yesterday, “It was a massive shock to find Jeff Brazier at my door. I’m still in shock to be honest. I’ll get my mum back at some point.”
